Deuterium lamps emit an almost continuous spectrum of light ranging from UV wavelengths of 160 nm - 400 nm to the visible spectral range (400-800 nm). This makes them the ideal light source for high precision absorption measurement, e.g. in HPLC.Heraeus' broad range of deuterium lamps fulfils all of the needs of instrument manufacturers: standard or extended lifetime, quartz glass or UV glass envelopes, optional shine-through versions and many specialist lamps e.g. for very short wavelengths (vacuum UV) or boosted output. Heraeus engineers work closely with instrument manufacturers to find the right deuterium lamp in terms of materials, geometry and operating parameters. Specially designed power supplies are available for use with Heraeus deuterium lamps. In order to comply with the new RoHS regulations Heraeus has developed a mercury-free timer.
For users of analytical instrumentation, Heraeus offers high-quality replacement deuterium lamps for virtually all instruments. Heraeus replacement deuterium lamps are available through selected distributors.
Heraeus engineers deuterium lamps for maximum stability, i.e. precision of the light output. The DX and DS types offer a guaranteed noise level below 2 x 10-5 AU. This is one full order of magnitued better than most other deuterium lamps on the market. The DX deuterium lamp types also offer a very long lifetime of 2000 hours, and the light output remains stable until the very end of the lifetime. The high performance of these Heraeus deuterium lamps is made possible by the in-house experience of the Heraeus group with quartz glass and metal technology.
